If you put your laptop and tech gear in a little sloppily, you’ll feel it on your back. Laptop/tech space: Good enough. Large pouches good to hold 2 laptops/tablets. Has one bag area for putting smaller things, but I wouldn’t mind another pouch/bag or two in the tech area.Outer space: The outer space is decent and expands to a good size. Easily enough room for me to pack a few days of clothes. I like how you can access this space from the outside or from the tech side.Function: The full unfolding feature is great! I was able to fit quite a lot of clothes inside. It got heavy when fully packed, but once I fastened the chest strap, it felt much more comfortable to carry. The size was perfect for a carry-on and fit easily under the seat in front of me, so I didn’t even need to use the overhead bin. After getting off the plane, I could slide the backpack over the handle of my carry-on suitcase using the pass-through strap, which was really convenient. It also has a side handle, so I could carry it like a duffel bag if I wanted. In Sedona, I used it for hiking—it was great for carrying my camera, jacket, snacks, and lunch. I thought it might be a little big at first, but the external buckles and straps allowed me to adjust the size and make it more compact. I’m really glad I bought this backpack. I ordered this for my husband at his request, 2 days before his flight, so he didn’t have to check a bag. Not only did it come the next day as promised, it was tightly packed in thick plastic to keep it protected for delivery. He went away for a 5 day golf trip with his buddies and managed to get all of his clothing, golf shoes and toiletry bag in this backpack carry-on, because it expands about another 2 inches. Even expanded, he said it fit perfectly in the overhead bin. It also has a built in cord for cell phone use, so no need to hope a charging station is open at the gate. The bag’s compartments are nice and sturdy. The zippers and material were all nice and work well. He surprisingly had no complaints and his friends were surprised by how much he had packed inside. He has started a trend, because now they all want one too! My husband is 6’ tall and 185 lbs and was able to easily carry this bag fully stuffed…although, when on his back, he did remind me of a turtle! Haha. But a very handsome turtle! He said I should use it for my upcoming flights, but honestly, I am 5’1” and 95 lbs…so it would likely be a bit large and heavy for me. But for him…perfect! So many similar bags on Amazon are much more expensive and not even rated as high as this bag. Customer Review: “I read all the reviews before I ordered this Zomfelt pack. Some thought it too small, or thought it looked bigger in the pictures. Not I. When I opened the package, I thought it seemed a bit small. As soon as I started packing it, I changed my mind about that. It took more clothes than I expected; and then some! A pair of Levis; two changes of T-shirts, shorts and socks; two winter weight long sleeve shirts. A week’s worth of medicine; toiletries; some first-aid supplies. That much just lightly filled the main compartment, with enough room left that I could add a bit more without a struggle. I could have put my anorak in; bit instead I slipped it into the front picket where it is more quickly accessible. Plenty of room was left for chargers for computer and iPhone. They slip into pockets, just the right size–not just tossed in loose. There’s room in those areas for small, medium, and large size notebooks as well. My computer: There is a dedicated pocket for it. I own both a 13 and 15 inch iMac Pro. The 15 inch fits in it just fine, but I prefer to bring my 13 on trips; and of course it fit with room to spare. There is enough padding, and what’s more, the computer compartment is towards the front of the pack, not up against my back. It’s more comfortable there; and I believe, better protected. It’s a well thought out design. The materials seem strong, substantial, without cutting corners. I believe a sternum strap would be a worthy improvement. It is a splendid backpack. I may buy a second one, as a spare. Or in case my wife decides she has to use my backpack, like she’s done with my roller bag.”

This back pack is very spacious, easy to open, functions as its intended to do lot of spots to organize stuff and Fits both my Ipad and Gaming laptop just fine. the plastic pocket it has inside has kept my soaps and wet stuff from soaking the rest of the bag. The straps have not ripped and still remain sturdy after 5 months of use. Zippers are solid and no rips or broken zippers have shown up. Even the little bags that come with it is still good. Since I use Trains for public transport in the US, when this backpack is filled to its maxed compacity it might not fit the storage racks above the seats (I use AMTRAK trains By the way). All in a all its a great backpack for the price but it might not fit in some public transport spots.”

I love everything about this bag – except for the non-zippered pockets in the main compartment because anything I put in them slides out and I find it in amongst my things in the main compartment (I’m thinking I might be able to modify the pockets with a few stitches to keep things in them better.) I have taken this bag camping, on overnight and weekend trips, and now am planning on testing my packing skills and taking only it on a 6-day trip in early fall though I’ll have bulkier clothing to pack. I will also be flying with it for the first time in October, and I will update this review with my experience since I will be on a budget airline and I am planning on using this bag as a personal item and as my only luggage. I love that the straps fold away for carrying ease and that keeps the straps from catching on things (like airplane seat arms while walking to my seat…true story). TIPS: The hooks on the straps can easily slip off the D rings. Clips the hooks with a wire cutter and bend the D rings removing them. I replaced the D ring with a horseshoe ring with a screw-in pin, the hooks I replaced with screw locking carabiners. (Local hardware store) Personally I’m really hard on my bags and in an emergency situation they come in handy. It’s a great purchase!”
