Customer Review: “I have been on a search for over the ear or on-ear headphones that when used with a laptop sound good, are not expensive, and (here’s the big eliminator) are comfortable to wear. I am going to compare 4 phones which are readily available: Panasonic RP- HT 21 (current prices as of 4/12 – $4.49), Koss Portapro ($18.72), JVC HA-S160-B ($14.23) and AKG K240 (4.5) ($93.90) The AKG’s were to be used as a sound benchmark.I listen mostly to classical music, soundtracks, and jazz. I used the following music: Katsarsis playing the Kreisler Praeludium, Rattle and the LA Philharmonic doing the adagio from Rachmaninoff’s 2nd Symphony, and von Karajan and the Berlin doing the opening of Strauss’s Thus Sprach Zarathustra. The phones were powered only by a laptop because that is what most people will use lightweight phones for (that or other small listening devices) For that reason the AKG’s were not a good choice because it could not reach even moderately high sound levels from my Toshiba laptop. The sound was super smooth on the AKG’s but the lightweights were more compatible with the laptop.The Panasonics sound good with mid range music, like the Kreisler piano music, but their weakness showed in the Strauss. They could not handle the complex, loud tones with any finesse. I give the JVC’s a small edge sonically over the Koss’s overall because while they both handled detail and loud volume about the same, the JVC showed a bit more reality in the music. By that I mean, e.g., horns sounded more like horns and not synthesized sound. Both Koss and JVC allowed you to hear the decay and space in the Strauss opening.Now, on to comfort. The Panasonics are very small and light and one can wear them for a long time without even noticing them. The Koss’s have a clumsy headband, and I found the pressure on the ear uncomfortable after 15 minutes or so. The JVC’s, which use a simple headband, were almost as comfortable as the Panasonics. The AKG’s, like many over the ear phones, started becoming oppressive after 15 minutes. Note: I have a large head and this comfort level assessment may not be true for people with smaller noggins.I would use the Panasonics for times when they might receive heavy handling, such as when commuting on public transportation. They are cheap (and a real bargain) so damage will not be costly. The Koss were just a bit too clumsy to use – Koss needs to abandon its weird headband design. The JVCs were a clear choice for everyday listening with smaller devices. I think the AKG’s just need a real amplifier to power them.In short, I thought the JVC’s were a clear winner in this bargain/comfort category.”

Customer Review: “hello,if you do not want to spend dollars on a set of earphones on the ear, this is the one to get. the bass is outstanding for such a low cost no in the ear canal sound. it is light weight and not those large ear covering speaker covers. yet, it gives crisp clear sound as if it is a $100 dollar set of over the ear set up earphones.i have a set of small in the ear buds. but, my ear cannot take them listening too long as the object in the ear is bothersome. so, these small outside of the ear pads are so comfortable, yet i can hear a voice from the other room. JVC makes good stuff and this is no exception.some small units from other companies look good, but have no bass, even using an outside sound app. these JVC units hit the spot right as you put them on without any adjustments necessary. the bass is great and so is the rest of the music i listen to when drawing or just watching the surrounding coastal view.”

They also came fully charged, which was awesome so I got to use them immediately.Secondly, the quality is super good so far. Customer Review: “I received my first ‘pair’ of SleepPhones (black felt, medium) yesterday and used them last night while falling asleep, so the review is for my initial impressions and not long-term durability.It took me a minute to figure out the proper way to wear them — I think the label goes up by the top of your forehead, facing in a way that someone looking at you would be able to read it — this leaves the speaker wire hanging down your back. The speakers were pretty much in the right position, but I did have to nudge one of them a little to get it in front of my ear.My first experience with them was listening to a guided visualization/meditation, binaural ASMR style (ASMR stimulates a relaxing sensory response in some people). Right away, I was very impressed with the speaker quality. I would say it is as-good as my $200 on-ear pair, but far and away more comfortable for sleeping. The headphones become one with the pillow and are almost ‘invisible’ in that sense.I say ‘almost’ because the headband itself, while a perfect fit for me (average size women’s head), was a tiny bit uncomfortable and warm, but it’s a minor detail overall and I can’t really think of a better way to get speakers to stay on my head (except to try the molded in-ear headphones, which I’ve yet to shell out for). I’ll add that I have tried LOTS of different headphones and never really found any of them to be comfortable for more than 30 minutes or so. The SleepPhones were far more comfortable, sounded great, and did not bother my ears at all! Given how comfortable they are, I am curious to try a headband made from a lighter fabric for daytime use. For night-time, however, the soft plush felt is the way to go, IMO.Moving on… the cable is braided and although thin is nice quality and doesn’t get twisted up like some of the thicker cable styles. There cable is long enough to place your playing device (iPhone, etc.) on the bed-stand, but I would say it is just long enough for this purpose and you can’t really move. While you can purchase aux cable extenders, an extra foot of length would be nice to have and I can’t see how it would add much to their manufacturing costs. I think this point has been made by other reviewers.When my meditation ended, I woke up enough to take these off, meaning I did not sleep through the night with them. Judging by my experience, I expect that they would be comfortable for many hours of sleeping/wear and the only problem would be tangling yourself in the cable when moving in your sleep. I have fallen asleep with regular headphones (my v-moda on-ear) and the extended pressure causes discomfort on the ears that can last for an hour or more. I think the SleepPhones would even be suitable for side sleeping since I turned by head to the side while wearing the band, and the speaker is so low-profile that it just blended into the pillow.Overall, I have to give 5 stars when comparing these to the general quality of what’s out there. You can tell a lot of attention went into making these and the price is reasonable too. I hope they hold-up because most of my cheaper headphones lose sound in one speaker after a while. If they last a year or even six-months of heavy use, I will be very happy and will have considered this money well spent for enabling my relaxation time.”

I was RIGHT!I DO wish the cord was a just a tad bit longer though. I sleep on my left side – the nightstand also sits to the left of the bed, so essentially, I am facing the nightstand – a single cord runs behind my head, then under my pillow and into my phone on the nightstand with no issue. Granted, I don’t roll around a lot in my sleep – I mostly stay on my left side or roll over onto my stomach and sometimes I rollover onto my back – but I have yet to get tangled in the cord or have my phone fall off the nightstand due to any of my movements. Still, I tend to feel like I’m at the “end of my rope” so it would be nice if it were “plenty long enough” instead of “just long enough”.The BEST thing I LOVE about this product is how COMFORTABLE it is! Again, I sleep on my side, so I was specifically looking for something that wouldn’t press on my ear cartilage when laying on the speakers, and I swear I can’t even feel the speakers AT ALL! Now, this may have something to do with my pillow – I use a medium firm pillow, but it has lost a lot of its shape and has become quite soft; Maybe someone using a more firm pillow might feel the speakers, but I would think it would have to be a REALLY firm pillow – so firm that I can’t imagine how the speakers would actually make it any less comfortable at that point. Lol– The headband is super soft; It is also not very thick at all and very breathable, which makes it very lightweight and less likely to generate any heat on my head.– It’s not too tight and not too loose – just right for me! I seriously cannot even tell it’s on my head!– I wear my hair in a high ponytail at night and the band runs from the base of my head and then sits high on my forehead, — again, can’t even feel it on my face, and I certainly don’t feel like my face is being pushed down.– The speakers are SUPER THIN – like millimeters thick – and they are shielded with a course burlap type fabric on each side to make them flush on both sides inside the headband. The speakers can also be re-positioned to cover exactly where your ears are when wearing the band – they can be moved inside the band with ease, but not so much ease that they would move around while you are actually wearing the band.– The speakers can also be completely removed to wash the headband. They weren’t exactly the easiest to remove and reinsert, but it certainly wasn’t hard or frustrating by any stretch of the imagination, just takes a bit of patience is all; the hardest thing is literally just figuring out the left/right orientation, if that even matters to you. Customer Review: “Ok, so here’s everything you need to know about these headphones. I bought these noise canceling headphones to drown out the noise outside my apartment (gun range nearby, door slamming neighbors, weed whackers, roosters, neighbors bumping music, neighbors riding dirt bikes, etc.), and they work great for that purpose! I can’t hear any of that stuff anymore, and I don’t know why I didn’t get noise canceling headphones years ago. You can still somewhat hear some of the higher pitched noises, like your appliances beeping when they’re done (which I like), but every other noise is pretty nonexistent. The battery lasts a really long time (I’ve had them on multiple times from the moment I wake up, until the moment I go to sleep, and I’ve never ran out of battery yet). They’re pretty comfortable for extended wear when you get them positioned right (I found that if your ears start to feel fatigued, wiggle the ear cups around a little to position your ears in them better, and that solves the issue). They don’t really make your ears sweaty, and are adjustable to fit any sized head. They are comfortable and fit well over glasses too. The ear cups and foam on the underside of the bridge are very soft, and the headphones appear to be well made, and don’t look or feel cheap at all. The sound quality is 10/10, and low’s, mid’s, and hi’s are very well balanced. No issues with making phone calls, and they sound clear on the other end too. They also have a button that turns the noise canceling feature on or off in case you need to hear what’s going on around you, and volume up and down buttons that also skip music tracks forward and back. I’ve used them a lot since I got them a month ago, and for the most part, they have been issue free. The range is pretty good too, and haven’t had any issues leaving my phone in one room, and walking around my apartment. Every once in a while the music will cut out for a millisecond, but it’s pretty rare. There’s a bit of a delay when watching anything on my computer (0.2 seconds), and have been able to compensate for it in my media player, but still working on fixing the delay when watching videos online. The ear cups rotate 90 degrees to fold flat to save space. The biggest thing I want to mention is if you have your headphones connected to your phone, and you get a notification such as a text or an alarm, there is an inverse relationship to how loud that sound will be relative to how loud the rest of what you’re listening to is. For example, if you’re listening to music very softly, or your music is paused, the alerts you get from your phone will play at maximum volume (and I’m talking scare the living daylights out of you volume). I’ve tried adjusting the volume of the sounds on my phone, but found that I had to turn them down so low that I couldn’t hear them when I wasn’t listening to the headphones. The only workaround I’ve found is any time I have my phone connected to the headphones, I always have music playing at a volume of at least a low-medium level, which makes the alerts come through at a comfortable volume. Other than that, no real issues. For the price, these are a steal.
